Failed to obtain auth service url from server: null://null:null

Olivier Rivat
Hi,

Tkx for your update.
But I am still struggling to figure out the reason why my J2EE policy agent is not intercepting  access of  http://openam.example:28080/examples/servlets
and asking authentication in openam at URL http://openam.example:18080/openam

Where should I look for/debug to nail this down further to bring this up ?

Regards,
Olivier

Hi Olivier, if you search the alias, you will find my answers regarding
this issue ... it's not an error at all (also see my comment on
https://bugster.forgerock.org/jira/browse/OPENAM-1106) and not the root
cause of your issue.

Did you configure the agent filter in the web.xml as documented?

You must not configure the filter for the default application (global
web.xml), see https://bz.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=51754

Re: Failed to obtain auth service url from server: null://null:null

In reply to this post by Olivier Rivat

Hi,

I have executed section 6) as suggested from thr doc

1. created directory /path/to/j2ee_agents/tomcat_v6_agent/sampleapp/etc
2.created a file web.xml as below from doc example.

But it does not work any better.

Result is still the same (i.e policy agent does not intercept request for openam
openam URL: http://openam.example.com:18080/openam
j2ee policy agent for URL:
http://openam.example.com:28080/examples/servlets on server tomcat
http://openam.example.com:28080

3. I have even checked the web.xml in directory ./webapps/agentapp/WEB-INF/web.xml to ensure it is same as in section 6)

<filter>
        <description>OpenAM JavaEE Policy Agent Filter</description>
        <display-name>Agent</display-name>
        <filter-name>Agent</filter-name>
        <filter-class>com.sun.identity.agents.filter.AmAgentFilter</filter-class>
    </filter>
    <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>Agent</filter-name>
        <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
      <dispatcher>REQUEST</dispatcher>
      <dispatcher>INCLUDE</dispatcher>
      <dispatcher>FORWARD</dispatcher>
      <dispatcher>ERROR</dispatcher>
    </filter-mapping>

4. So fro now I don't really know what to look at, as nothing weird found so far.

Regards,

Olivier

6.

If you choose not to let the installer install a global filter in Tomcat's web.xml, then you must add the filter manually for each protected application's web.xml configuration, following the opening <web-app> tag. The file for the sample application delivered with the agent is /path/to/j2ee_agents/tomcat_v6_agent/sampleapp/etc/web.xml.

<filter> <filter-name>Agent</filter-name> <display-name>Agent</display-name> <description>OpenAM Policy Agent Filter</description> <filter-class>com.sun.identity.agents.filter.AmAgentFilter</filter-class> </filter> <filter-mapping> <filter-name>Agent</filter-name> <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern> <dispatcher>REQUEST</dispatcher> <dispatcher>INCLUDE</dispatcher> <dispatcher>FORWARD</dispatcher> <dispatcher>ERROR</dispatcher> </filter-mapping>
